Moses and Jesus both fasted for forty days
Please read Exodus 24
Now that you have read that chapter, I will tell you what it said.
Moses, Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu and 70 elders. Were chosen. Moses reads the words of the Lord to all
the people and all the people agreed and promised to do them. Moses built an alter and sacrificed oxen
on it. Then Moses took some of the blood and sprinkled it on the altar. Then Moses read from the book
of the covenant and all the people agreed and promised to do all those things and be obedient. Then
Moses sprinkled some of the blood on the people. Moses told them this is the blood covenant the LORD
has made with you. Then these 4 guys and the 70 elders went up the mountain. They all saw God, where
God was standing on the ground it was like sapphire stone. And all these guys ate and drank with God.
And the LORD told Moses that He would give him the 10 commandments. Moses and Joshua went up
the mountain further, meanwhile the other guys stayed there and waited for them. Then Moses went
up further alone. And Moses stayed on the top of Mt Sinai 40 days and 40 nights.
In the next 6 chapters the LORD gave Moses the pattern for the tabernacle. In the end of chapter 31
almost as an afterthought, God gave Moses the 10 commandants.
Here is a new thought there is a lot more in this story about the tabernacle than there is about the 10
commandants. Interesting.
It doesn’t say that Moses didn’t eat for 40 days. God gave everybody dinner on the way up. If Moses
didn’t eat for 40 days and nights, it might have had something to do with the meal that Moses ate with
God on the way up. That was a supernatural meal and sustained Moses for 40 days and nights.
Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Then Jesus was led into the wilderness. The Spirit of God
descended like a dove and a voice came from heaven saying This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well
pleased. Then Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights.
I submit for your analysis, that before you fast 40 days and nights something supernatural happens, that
will sustain you.
